Abingdon Theatre Company presents a concert of Tonya & Nancy: The Rock Opera February 4 at 7 PM at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

Inspired by actual events, Tonya & Nancy utilizes the 1994 Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan media frenzy to explore America’s obsession with celebrity scandals.

With a libretto and concept by Elizabeth Searle and music by Michael Teoli, the musical features Sara Jean Ford as Nancy, Becca Kotte as Tonya, Cheryl Stern as Mom, Jared Zirilli as Jeff, with Heidi Friese, Chase Kamata, Ryan MacConnell, and Colin Barkell.

Rachel Klein directs, with musical direction by Henry Aronson.

Abingdon will also present Wade Dooley’s The Prompter February 11 at the Lortel. Scott Schwartz will direct the two-hander featuring Oscar winner Estelle Parsons and the playwright. The play follows veteran actor Irene Young, who, after a 40-year absence, is returning to the Broadway stage. But now, she can’t do it alone; so, the production hires a young actor to be her prompter.
