Anastasia, the Broadway stage adaptation that expands upon the 1997 animated musical film featuring a score by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, celebrated the opening of its U.S. national tour October 23 in Schenectady, New York.

Ahrens and Flaherty, who were nominated for the Academy Award for the film's song “Journey to the Past,” expanded their score for the Broadway premiere, which has a book by Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally. The three previously collaborated on the Tony-winning musical Ragtime.

The tour is slated to perform in 30 cities across the U.S. in its first year, with engagements announced in Austin, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Denver, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. Click here for the full itinerary.

Lila Coogan leads the tour in the role of Anya in a cast that also features Stephen Brower as Dmitry, Jason Michael Evans as Gleb, Joy Franz as Dowager Empress, Tari Kelly as Countess Lily, Edward Staudenmayer as Vlad, and Victoria Amelia Bingham as Little Anastasia.

The ensemble includes Brianna Abruzzo, Ronnie S. Bowman Jr., Alison Ewing, Peter Garza, Jeremiah Ginn, Brett-Marco Glauser, Lucy Horton, Mary Illes, Fred Inkley, Kourtney Keitt, Beth Stafford Laird, Mark MacKillop, Kenneth Michael Murray,Taylor Quick, Claire Rathbun, Michael McCorry Rose, Matt Rosell, Sareen Tchekmedyian, and Addison Mackynzie Valentino.

International plans for sit-down runs in Germany, Holland Spain, Russia, Korea, Japan, Mexico, and China are also underway.
