Anastasia, the Broadway stage musical adaptation of the 20th Century Fox animated film, ends its run March 31 at the Broadhurst Theatre. The musical opened at the Broadhurst April 24, 2017, following a world premiere at Hartford Stage in May 2016.

The Broadway production played 34 previews and 808 regular performances. A U.S. national tour launched last fall, and international productions are currently underway in Stuttgart and Madrid.

The expanded stage production of Anastasia features a score by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, who wrote the songs for the 1997 animated feature, including their Academy Award-nominated stand-out, “Journey to the Past.”

The Broadway production has a book by Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, who previously collaborated with Ahrens and Flaherty on the Tony-winning musical Ragtime.

Anastasia’s star, Christy Altomare, has been with the production since creating the role of Anya in the 2016 Hartford Stage world premiere.

The current Broadway cast also features Cody Simpson, John Bolton, Constantine Germanacos, Vicki Lewis, and Penny Fuller.

Tony Award winner Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder) directs the production that features choreography by Peggy Hickey, sets by Alexander Dodge, costumes by Linda Cho, lighting design by Donald Holder, sound design by Peter Hylenski, projections by Aaron Rhyne, music direction by Thomas Murray, and orchestrations by Doug Besterman. Casting is by Telsey + Company/Craig Burns, CSA.

The cast also includes Gail Bennett, Lauren Blackman, Kathryn Boswell, Maria Briggs, Justin Scott Brown, Kyle Brown, Kristen Smith Davis, Colby Dezelick, Janet Dickinson, Wes Hart, Anika Lore Hatch, Ken Krugman, Dustin Layton, Brian Munn, Delilah Rose Pellow, James A.
