A film adaptation of the viral sensation is in the works from Greg Berlanti and Shawn Levy.

First the regional production's cast album went viral. Then the Off-Broadway premiere sold out before its first preview, shortly afterwards announcing a Broadway transfer. Now, Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz' musical that could, Be More Chill, is headed to the big screen.

According to Deadline, Shawn Levy's 21 Laps and Greg Berlanti Productions have acquired the film rights to the musical, about an average teenager (played Off-Broadway by Dear Evan Hansen's Will Roland) who takes a pill purported to make people more—you guessed it—chill. Broadway previews begin at the Lyceum Theatre February 13; opening night is set for March 10.
