Barber will join the Broadway company January 21, 2019, and will play a limited run through March 3. Barber succeeds original cast member Daniel Stewart Sherman, who is temporarily leaving to appear in My Very Own British Invasion at Paper Mill Playhouse. Sherman will return to the role of Don March 4 and stay through the show’s final performance.

“I am so excited to be making my Broadway debut in Kinky Boots,” Barber said in a statement. “I was very fortunate to be part of the New York Giants for ten years and feel incredibly lucky to be joining another New York institution: Broadway.”

British pop star Conor Maynard recently took over the role of Charlie Price in the Tony-winning Broadway production. Callum Francis, who has starred in the U.K. and Australian tours of Kinky Boots, will make his Broadway debut as Lola beginning January 11. Francis will play the role through March 17, succeeding J. Harrison Ghee, who departs the show January 10. However, Ghee will return to the role March 19 through the show’s final performance.

As previously reported, Kinky Boots will end its run April 7. At the time of its closing, the musical will be the 25th longest-running production in Broadway history, having played 34 previews and 2,507 regular performances.
