Harvey Fierstein’s Torch Song is set to begin performances on Broadway at the Hayes Theatre October 9 ahead of a November 1 opening night. The revival, directed by Moisés Kaufman, previously ran Off-Broadway at Second Stage’s Tony Kiser Theatre in 2017.
The Broadway company stars Michael Urie, Mercedes Ruehl, Ward Horton, Roxanna Hope Radja, Michael Hsu Rosen, and Jack DiFalco, all reprising their roles from last year's Off-Broadway revival.

Torch Song tells the story of Arnold Beckoff, a drag performer who navigates both the liberation and assimilation of gay men in 1980s New York, as well as a back-and-forth plea for respect from his overbearing mother.
Moisés Kaufman's staging, which condenses Fierstein's original Torch Song Trilogy into two acts, played the Tony Kiser Theater last fall. The limited engagement will play the Hayes (where the play first premiered on Broadway in 1982, then the Little Theatre) as the third production under Second Stage's ownership of the venue, following Lobby Hero and Straight White Men.
