The Broadway Cast is talking all things Hamilton this week. For the latest episode, Playbill welcomed three of the current stars from the smash hit Broadway production to chat career highlights and inspirations, how they got their starts, and, of course, Hamilton.
Listen to this week’s episode to hear from Mandy Gonzalez, who stars as Angelica Schuyler; James Monroe Iglehart, who continues to impress as Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson; and Hamilton’s newest Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds: Joanna A. Jones.
Jones, who started in Hamilton September 5, is making her Broadway debut in the hit show. She was seen in the West End in Thriller Live, as well as in regional productions of Baz: Star Crossed Love; Gotta Dance; Kiss Me, Kate; Hair; Show Boat; Parade; Caroline, or Change; and For the Record Live.
Iglehart is known for originating the role of the Genie in Disney’s Broadway staging of Aladdin—for which he won a Tony Award—as well as Bobby in Memphis. He also performed on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee.
In addition to Hamilton, Gonzalez’s Broadway credits include Wicked, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights (in which she originated the role of Nina), Lennon, Aida, and Dance of the Vampires. The star recently released her debut solo EP, Fearless, which features tracks penned by Miranda and other musical theatre artists.
Each episode of The Broadway Cast, hosted by Broadway vet Ben Cameron (Wicked, Aida), features a mix of guests who make Broadway what it is: the stars, the creatives, the notable movers and shakers, and more.
