Stage and screen favorite Laura Linney will be the guest of honor at MCC Theater’s 2019 edition of its Miscast Gala. As previously announced, the benefit will take place April 1 at the Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

The actor joins MCC Board members Marianne Mills and Harold Newman as next year’s honorees.

Each year, a host of Broadway favorites turn out to take part in the evening that gives them the chance to perform a role in which they would never be cast. A mix of tongue-in-cheek renditions and show-stopping, once-in-a-life-time performances, Miscast has become a hot ticket for industry insiders and theatre fans alike.

Talent for the 2019 Miscast will be announced shortly. Gala tickets and tables are now on sale, with performance-only tickets being released to the public early next year.

Linney has earned Tony Award nominations for her performances in The Crucible, Sight Unseen, Time Stands Still, and The Little Foxes. Her additional stage credits include Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Uncle Vanya, Honour, Holiday, Hedda Gabler, and Six Degrees of Separation. On screen, she’s known for her Oscar-nominated turns in The Savages, Kinsey, and You Can Count on Me, as well as Netflix’s Ozark and Showtime’s The Big C (for which she won an Emmy). She is set to appear in Netflix’s new Tales of the City, returning to the title after appearing in the original 1993 miniseries.

“MCC’s history with Laura goes back to our one-act festival in 1990 when she was in Annie Evans’ Forgetting Frankie,” noted MCC Co-Artistic Director Bernard Telsey. “She is a daring, brilliant artist whose commitment to theater on top of all of her successes in other media should be celebrated. We’re so thrilled to be giving the New York theater community the chance to pay tribute to Laura and her work.”
