Sutton Foster Will Finally Sing on Younger, and the Cast Can’t Wait

Film & TV News   Sutton Foster Will Finally Sing on Younger, and the Cast Can’t Wait

The two-time Tony winner shows off her Broadway chops in the July 24 episode of the TV Land comedy.

Liza Miller has spent four-and-a-half seasons of Younger keeping a secret: She’s not the millennial she pretends to be; she’s actually in her 40s. But it appears she’s been hiding something else: She has some Broadway pipes.

Of course, this comes as no surprise to those who’ve seen Sutton Foster onstage, belting her way through Tony-winning performances in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Anything Goes and earning additional nominations for Violet, Shrek, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Little Women.

On the July 24 episode of the TV Land comedy, Foster will show off not a belt, but rather a yodel, as Liza is roped into a family tradition performance of The Sound of Music’s “The Lonely Goatherd.”

“It’s a sing I think we’ve been waiting for for a while,” Foster says in the exclusive video above.

Her co-stars are just as giddy as any Foster fan would be. “We get to hear Sutton sing, which was unbelievable,” Peter Hermann, who plays Liza’s boss (and potential love interest) Charles, says with a slight squeal.

“The darling Sutton Foster is a genius. It’s going to be such a treat,” adds Molly Bernard, who plays (actual) millennial Lauren.

Foster has found ways to demonstrate her vocal stylings in TV roles before, having sung on both Bunheads (in which she performed “If My Friends Could See Me Now” from Sweet Charity—a show she later starred in) and the Gilmore Girls revival, A Year in the Life.
