Performances began March 30 for the Irish Repertory Theatre production of Conor McPherson’s The Seafarer, starring two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick. The play, about a Christmas Eve poker game that receives an unexpected guest, premiered in 2006 at London's Royal National Theatre before opening on Broadway the following year. The show will officially open April 18.

Ciarán O’Reilly directs a cast completed by Colin McPhillamy as Richard, Michael Mellamphy as Ivan, Andy Murray as Sharky, and Tim Ruddy as Nicky. Broderick plays the role of Lockhart.
