DESCRIPTION

Seeking video submissions from collaborative, versatile actors who sing for the following roles in a developmental AEA 29-hour reading of BISLAND & BLY at the 2019 New York Musical Festival.

BISLAND & BLY is about remarkable, real-life journalists Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland who raced each other in opposite directions around the world in 1889, beating the fictional record from "Around The World In Eighty Days". Nellie and Elizabeth were radically different—one a daughter of industrial Pittsburgh with a passion for righting the world’s wrongs, the other a southern belle with a flair for prose and cultural insight. Both were forced to defend their worth in a world that had little patience for women who refused to be boxed in.  With strains of Americana and Folk, as well as Contemporary Musical Theatre, this is the incredible story of two women who dared to persist in the pursuit of their dreams.

Personnel:

If you are interested in submitting for either of the following, please email bislandandbly@gmail.com with your headshot, resume and a link to a video of you singing (this can be from a previous submission and any musical style is acceptable, though folk and contempoary musical theatre are especially appreciated). We will respond with the appropriate sides to be filmed and submitted by Friday May 31.
