Status: Full-Time Exempt
The Art Director plays an essential role in NJPAC’s marketing, creative, communications and digital departments. The Art Director is responsible for leading the design team, creating conceptual design, developing basic presentation approaches, directing layout design, copy editing, developing creative guidelines and directing creative work, including the design and production of posters, advertisements, brochures, the website, digital banner ads, e-blasts, social media, apps, animations, environmental graphics and outdoor banners, fund raising materials and all institutional materials. The Art Director is also responsible for all internal communication materials and other forms of the institutional identity.
The Art Director is responsible for the brand guidelines introduced for NJPAC’s 20th Anniversary season, ensuring proper usage throughout the institution and is the keeper of the NJPAC brand.
The Art Director reports directly to the Vice President of Marketing, while working closely with the Senior Director of Creative Services and leading a team of 3 other graphic designers. The direction of ads, promotions and digital communications will come from the VP of Marketing and key team members based on the project at hand. The Art Director creates the tonality for all of the communications with the input of the Vice President of Marketing and the various divisions being served by the communications.
The Art Director will work with key team members such as copywriters, digital team, development team, arts education, marketing managers, producers and other team members on a daily basis.
