POSITION: The Artist Co-op Manager


The Artist Co-op is a shared workspace for performing artists located in Manhattan.

The Artist Co-op’s Mission Statement:  We create a thriving environment to nurture the innate multidisciplinary nature of the artist community.

The Community Space Manager will work closely with Founder and Executive Director, Rachel Berger, to create, implement, and manage systems for the daily operation of The Artist Co-op.

  • Oversee Desk Exchange Program The Community Space Manager will oversee the Desk Exchange program and is responsible for front desk coverage, training, and general maintenance of the co-working and rehearsal spaces. The Manager will be onsite from 11am - 7pm between 3-4 days a week to support Desk Exchange, manage any internal issues or questions, and provide coverage for Desk Exchange lunch/dinner breaks.

    Create and Manage Desk Exchange Schedule, coordinating with partner manager

  • Manage Training for incoming Desk Exchangers

  • Ensure coverage for sick, absent, or other desk exchange issues

  • Cover the desk during Desk Exchange breaks (30 min lunch/dinner)

  • Maintain Physical Space The Community Space Manager will be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the space.

    Keep Desk Exchange maintenance duties up to date

  • Keep inventory and place orders for supplies

  • Fix or replace anything broken

  • Arrange for professional maintenance when needed

  • Communicate with Building Management to resolve heat, plumbing or other building issues.

  • Process Client Transactions The Community Space Manager will be responsible for processing all payments and ensuring MindBody is used properly by Desk Exchangers

    Process Payments for Memberships and Rehearsals rooms, terminations and suspensions

  • Onboarding new members (tour of space, setting up keycode, administering key, etc)


The typical day for a TAC Manager would look like the following: Check in with the daytime desk exchanger to see when they’d like a break. See if there any maintenance issues in the space to attend to. Process payments for the following day rehearsal rooms. Review that all memberships are up to date. Prep space for any events. Assist with Desk Exchange questions.

  • Great Communicator

  • Work well under pressure

  • Good understanding of processing payments and operational knowledge of Mindbody Online, a plus

  • Working knowledge or eagerness to learn technical amenities in the space including:

  • Sound amplification system (ProFX 12 Channel sound board, wired and Wireless Mics, Speakers, DI box and instrument amplification),

  • Screen and Projection systems (Hook up computers or other devices to projector and sound),

  • Printer and copiers

  • Strong Technical troubleshooting capabilities

  • Printer

  • Wifi

  • Electric Circuit Overload



24 - 32 hours/week

(between 3-4 days a week between 11am - 7pm)
